Lisa Barnard presents at the Imperial War Museum in London

Documentary Photography Senior Lecturer Lisa Barnard presents at the Imperial War Museum in London as part of the Covert War and Cultures Colliding event on Thursday 20 October 2016, 2pm. Mahwish Chishty, Lisa Barnard and IWM contemporary art researcher, Clare Carolin will discuss the challenges of creating artworks which represent and comment on covert war.

Lisa Barnard’s photographic and film practice examines the relationship between the military industrial complex, new technological innovations that utilise the screen and the psychological implication of conflict. She is Senior Lecturer on BA Documentary Photography at The University of South Wales.

Prof Mark Durden chairs a one-day OCA conference on Photography

USW Doctoral student, Les Monaghan, organised a one-day OCA conference at CAST, Doncaster, South Yorkshire on Saturday 21 May 2016. The conference titled Photography Matters was chaired by USW Professor Mark Durden.

Zanzibar Soccer Dreams International Screening

The world premiere of Zanzibar Soccer Dreams (2016) screening will take place next month in Toronto as part of the 2016 Canadian Sport Film Festival. This feature documentary is a follow-up to the 2007 documentary film, Zanzibar Soccer Queens.

The post-production of this project was partly fund by the Creative Industries Research Institute at the University of South Wales.
